My Personal Fundraising Page

So many of you know my story and have donated in the past. Our Family so appreciates your support! So again, we are walking in the 2025 Strides for CJD Fundraiser Walk this October 11 in memory of my Father Charles (Chuck) Hildenbrand. Dad died at the age of 64, 2 years after he retired from a career as an engineer at GE. After 4 months of deteriorating symptoms, numerous doctor opinions on his diagnosis, treatments and hospitilaziotions , he continued to decline. Dad died at Albany Medical Hospital on day 20. He was admitted for testing, and diagnosed with Crutzfeldt Jakob Disease, aka CJD, after completing a brain biopsy  requiring his skull to be cut thru to brain tissue.

The GOOD news is, since then, thru the efforst of fundraising with the CJD Foundation and all the doctors and researchers they support and are working so hard, we now have clinical trials running with a pharmacuetical company to slow the progression of this death sentence disease. Our goal is for a treatment and a  cure so other families do not have to go tru what we went thru. There is also now a sterilization technique so the instruments in contact with the infectious tissue do not have to be destroyed. And there is a less invasive spinal tap procedure to diagnose so patients do not have to go thru the traumatic brain biopsy like my Dad did.

Our efforts for fund raising are producing results!!! PLEASE help advance this research progress. Any donation amount is so appreciated and accepted with gratitude. Sponsors will be recognized and promoted at our walk. And gifts for our raffle  baskets also can be of enormous help! Use the link below, or contact me directly at 518.496.6564

And we would love to have you join us as this is a FUN event with food, games, raffles and wonderful, caring  people who all have a common bond of loss, helping each other and hoping we can make an impact to prevent others losing a family member.

Thank you with our whole hearts,

The Hildenbrand Halo Team.....Darlene Hildenbrand Chorman and Donna Britton Hildenbrand

About Strides for CJD

Strides for CJD is an annual walk/run to raise awareness of Creutzfeldt-Jakob Disease (CJD), a rare neurodegenerative disease that has no treatment or cure. Through this event, anyone -- anywhere -- can pay tribute to their loved ones and raise funds for the CJD Foundation, a 501(c)(3) organization.

Funds raised support our programs including:

  • Our 24/7 helpline, support groups, conference, and other family programs throughout the year.
  • Research grants to help scientists make important discoveries and bring us closer to a cure.
  • Medical education to help raise awareness and understanding of prion disease.
