We are walking for my brother, AJ, who is currently facing Gerstmann-Sträussler-Scheinker (GSS), a rare genetic form of CJD, after being diagnosed at just 31 years old. AJ is the kind of person who can pull out a movie quote for any situation, a lifelong football fan, and someone who brings humor wherever he goes. As my little brother, he has always been both incredibly funny and unbelievably tough. What started as subtle changes in his gait led to a year of doctor visits and testing before we finally had answers through genetic testing two years ago. Losing mobility has been one of the hardest parts of this disease, but AJ continues to fight with a strength that inspires all of us every day. We walk not only for him, but to raise awareness, push for research, and advocate for a future where no family has to face CJD or GSS alone.

The deadline for Sponsors' names (individuals) or logos (companies) to appear on participant t-shirts is Sunday, August 9th at 11:59pm Eastern time. Sponsorships made after the sponsorship deadline will have their name or logo* displayed on the Strides for CJD website only.

Strides for CJD is an annual walk/run to raise awareness of Creutzfeldt-Jakob Disease (CJD), a rare neurodegenerative disease that has no treatment or cure. Through this event, anyone -- anywhere -- can pay tribute to their loved ones and raise funds for the CJD Foundation, a 501(c)(3) organization.
