Four years ago I lost my brother to CJD, a rapid onset devastating neurological disease that docters describe as "alzheimer's and ALS combined, on hyperspeed".
Eric was a husband, father, son, and friend to so many. A musician, artist, graphic designer, writer and all around generous, curious and hilarious guy. He was and will always be an epic life force. He was only 56 when he first started showing symptoms and the disease took his life in a matter of weeks.
I’m raising money for the CJD Foundation because this disease is rare enough that most doctors don't even know how to advise the stricken or their families as to what to expect as it progresses, nor how to provide as much comfort and care as possible. The CJD Foundation were really the only ones who could provide solid, loving advice to help us manage an impossibly difficult, heartbreaking time.
The Foundation provides education, resources, and support to patients and their loved ones while also working to raise awareness and advance research toward better understanding, treatments, and ultimately a cure. By raising money on behalf of Eric and his memory (and all the brilliant memories he gave us), I hope to help the CJD Foundation continue supporting families, expanding awareness, and funding the research needed to one day change the outcome for those affected by this disease. Every contribution, big or small, helps move that mission forward. Thank you.
