"All-In for Yanny"

In Memory of Stephen Yanover

November 6, 1974 – June 12, 2025

"All-In for Yanny" was created to honor the life and legacy of Stephen Lawrence Yanover, affectionately known as Yanny. His love of card games reflected the way he lived every day—always "All-In." Whether it was for his family, his friends, or the people fortunate enough to know him, Steve approached life with wholehearted generosity, unwavering loyalty, and a contagious enthusiasm.

To know Steve was to love him. He had an infectious personality that made everyone feel welcome and valued. He was a devoted husband, a proud and loving father, and a fiercely loyal friend whose kindness and humor left a lasting impression on everyone he met.

Steve found his greatest joy in spending time with his family and beloved pets. He loved playing and watching basketball, taking trips to the coast, enjoying movie nights, relaxing by the pool, and competing at the poker table, where his passion for the game truly shined.

On June 12, 2025, at the age of 50, Steve passed away after a courageous battle with Creutzfeldt-Jakob disease (CJD), a rare and devastating neurodegenerative disease with no known treatment or cure.

Stephen was the beloved husband of Amie for 25 years and a devoted father to Madeline, Lilah, and Eli. He was the loving son of Marsha Rothman and the late Herbert Yanover, the stepson of the late Michael Rothman, and the cherished brother of David Yanover. Steve was also a loyal and treasured friend to countless family members and friends whose lives were enriched by his kindness, love, and unwavering friendship.

Please join "All-In for Yanny" by making a donation, participating in Strides for CJD, or sharing Steve's story. Together, we can honor his remarkable life, support families facing this devastating disease, and help bring hope for a future without CJD.

About Strides for CJD

Strides for CJD is an annual walk and run dedicated to raising awareness of Creutzfeldt-Jakob disease while honoring those affected by it. Funds raised support the CJD Foundation's mission to provide compassionate family support, advance medical education, and accelerate research toward effective treatments and, ultimately, a cure.

Through this event, anyone -- anywhere -- can pay tribute to their loved ones and raise funds for the CJD Foundation, a 501(c)(3) organization.

Funds raised support our programs including:

  • Our 24/7 helpline, support groups, conference, and other family programs throughout the year.
  • Research grants to help scientists make important discoveries and bring us closer to a cure.
  • Medical education to help raise awareness and understanding of prion disease.
