On August 10, 2021, our mom, Tracye Deese, passed away from CJD. Watching someone you love battle this devastating disease is heartbreaking, and as caregivers, you often feel helpless knowing there is no cure. That is why continued research is so important—it offers hope for families who may one day face this unimaginable journey.
As difficult as it is to think back to those final days in the hospital and during hospice, I know in my heart that Ma would want us to do everything we can to help advance research and move closer to a cure. She was a guiding light whose kindness, strength, and compassion touched everyone who had the privilege of knowing her.
In her honor, I have chosen to keep the same team name we proudly used when we first participated in Strides for CJD in 2024 in Fairfax, Virginia.
If you’re able, please consider supporting our team by making a donation. Every contribution, no matter the size, helps fund critical CJD research and brings hope to families affected by this devastating disease. Thank you for helping us honor Ma’s memory and support the search for a cure.
