What is a virtual race?

A virtual race is a run or walk that you complete on your own time and in your own location, instead of gathering for a traditional in-person race. 

When can I complete my 5k or 1 miler?

You can complete your 5k or 1 miler run or walk anytime during the May 14-17, 2026 event window. Choose the day and time that works best for you or complete distance over a few days! 

Do I have to complete the whole distance at once?

Nope!  You can:

• Complete it all at once
• Break it up over the 4 days (for example: 1 mile per day)

Where can I complete my 5k?

Anywhere! Popular options include your neighborhood, local parks or trails, a treadmill, even walking your dog!

How much does it cost?

• Registration for the 5k is $30.00 (or $25 for early registrationbefore April 25th, 2026!)
• Registration for the 1 miler is $15.00

What do I get for participating?

You mean aside from the warm feeling of satisfaction that comes from helping rescue MAGSR pups? 

1 miler and 5k participants: A certificate of completion will be emailed to you upon the receipt of your photo submission to media@magsr.org. Your submission of the completion photo will also be used on our social media!!

5k participants: You’ll be mailed a MAGSR 5k Koozie upon sign up! 

Is this race walker friendly?

YES! You can even complete your 1 miler or 5k over the course of the entire time period! The 5k and 1 miler are not timed. So get on out and enjoy those miles, no matter your pace!

How do I submit my time?

This 1 miler and 5k are NOT timed! Participants can track their own times if they wish, but completion is based on the honor system. Once the 1 miler or 5k is completed, please email your photo of completion to media@magsr.org.

Can I make a team?

You sure can! When you sign up, you’ll see where you can create a team. Have all of your friends sign up and raise money for a great cause together! Don’t forget your clever team name!

How do I fundraise?

When you complete your registration, you’ll receive your own 5k or 1-miler fundraising page! You’ll have options to complete your own profile, share your page to social media, email, and beyond! Make sure you share your page with family and friends to donate to a great cause! You can even create your own challenge, such as your donors can pledge $5 for each mile you complete of the 5k!
