Hello everyone and thank you for visiting our TASC Dream Team page.
You may wonder why we call this team the Dream Team (besides Magic Johnson being my favorite athlete of all time!J)
The reason is, when I started TASC 32 years ago and Donna joined my life nearly 25 years ago, we dreamt that TASC would become the influential, professional, innovative and loving family-themed program that it is today. TASC began with 4 staff and 12 clients in one small day program and today it has grown to nearly 275 staff members serving over 200 clients each year. We provide many different programs including instruction, training and support to our guys in their homes, in the community and at their jobs.
All TASC programs are 100% community-based and TASC is recognized in California as a program providing cutting-edge opportunities for many men and women who are facing enormous psychiatric and behavioral challenges. So yeah, I guess you could say that TASC is our dream come true.
The “#StrongerTogether” fundraising campaign is more important than any fundraising campaign we've ever had at TASC. We rely almost entirely on the state to make it possible for TASC to provide the necessary services to our guys every day, 7 days a week. But with the enormous financial impact on the state that the coronavirus has had, the Governor and the Legislators have made it clear that any funding for an extended period of time will focus almost entirely on not only getting us through this crisis, but the recovery from the crisis as well. This means that TASC and all organizations serving individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities will continue to be underfunded going forward for some time to come.
So, that is why Donna and I have financially committed to this campaign and have set the goal so high so that we can help this campaign reach a level of support never before achieved by TASC.
