Hi everyone, Started volunteering at CARE over 15 years ago when we were at Evanston Animal Shelter and I had just retired from CPS after 34 years teaching in an elementary school in Hyde Park where I met my husband. I have always had pit bulls and that's why I started volunteering because as a breed they are totally maligned and made scapegoats for bad owners. I had a pit bull when I first started volunteering who has since passed away. I currently own a pit and two rescues from CARE. One a dachshund mix found dumped in Home Depot parking lot in the dead of winter and the other a shih tzu who bite two volunteers at CARE and deemed unadoptable, Precious. I have never done the strut since my dogs are also reactive to other dogs but I am hoping all goes well with Precious, who loves to walk.
