Hello All!
As many of you may know, I had a life-altering disability which crippled me for 14 years. Through God's grace and mercy, healing came in 2015 via a surgical procedure at the Hospital for Special Surgery in NYC. Integral to my recover from the surgery was swimming and warm water exercises at the YMCA (the Y) in Randolph. It was there that I met a very special lady: Sally Schenkman.
Over the summer, Sally passed away suddenly from a brain aneurysm. As she had a heart and unrelenting desire to care for those in need, the 'Y' and her family are hosting a special fundraising event to raise money to build the 'Sally Schenkman ADA Accessible Family Locker Room', which will be a tremendous help to those who have disabilities and wish to use the pool facilities.
The "Swim for Sally" event takes place on Sat. October 14th, 2017 and I've committed my time and talents to swim in her honor and raise funds for this endeavor.
Having been disabled, I have personal knowledge of what this type of facility will mean to those with physical challenges. As such, I'm reaching out to you - my friends and family - to ask for your support. All donations - no matter the amount - are greatly appreciated and will be a blessing to others.
