This year, I’m raising money in honor of Lucy — my niece, my god-daughter, and (in my heart) the “OG” Little Warrior. She’s tough as nails, and sweet as pie. She doesn’t know it, but she has taught me so much about life, priorities, family, and finding a cause worth fighting for. After a grueling 1-year battle, – 14 Rounds of chemo, 43 rounds of radiation, and requiring 30 blood transfusions – Lucy was declared NED in 2020 and mercifully remains so today.
Today, Lucy loves volleyball, swimming, her dog Scruff, her family, acting and interior design. Her happy places include the beach (boogie board queen!) or curled up with a book (what bedtime?). She has awesome friends and cousins that keep her giggling.
We hope that Lucy’s cancer is forever in her rearview mirror. For so many kids, that’s not reality. Despite receiving some of the most aggressive chemotherapy available, many kids can never be declared “cured.” And it’s not just unfair — it’s WRONG. Kids deserve cures, but they aren’t getting the investment from Big Pharma or Uncle Sam. So foundations like Little Warrior have to fill the funding void.
Please join us in fundraising, in honor of Lucy.
In thanksgiving for her health.
In memory of those who were taken too soon.
And in anticipation of the next family to face this nightmare.
Swords up!
