Last Christmas Max was diagnosed with Ewing's Sarcomoa. THIS Christmas he wants to fundraise for his favorite foundation, Little Warrior Foundation!
By now you have all read/heard about Max's diagnosis, his journey to be cured, and his life updates since remission. I will spare you that story.
But, what you might not know is that childhood cancers are considered rare..and therefore, receive minimal funding for research. The treatment protocol that Max and his Warrior buddies endure is truly horrific. This protocol has not been updated in nearly 30 years. One of the silliest things I've had to explain to my kids is "yes, Max is getting better from the medicine" and "yes, the medicine is what is making him sick too" and "no, I know that doesn't make sense but that is the only option". I truly cannot explain what these kids and their families have to endure for a cure.
I am not totally sure what Max's "why" would be for fundraising but I know that if he could help the next family in their journey...he would be all about it! Before Max was discharged for the last time his older sister made him a sign that said "HAPPY LAST DAY OF CANCER" and I almost lost it. There is no "last" day of cancer...not really...95% of childhood cancer survivors end up with medical issues related to their cancer...OR with issues from their treatment. That is a tough one to swallow, honestly. So if you're looking for a worthy cause to donate to....the Little Warrior Foundation is out here fighting the good fight! We could not be more grateful for having them as a resource and truly believe in what they are trying to accomplish. SWORDS UP!
As a scrappy, low-overhead organization, you can be assured that your donations are being put to work on near-term solutions for kids and young adults facing Ewing Sarcoma.
