On the night of June 15th 2015 I started to have contractions. I was 38.5 weeks along. We just had my baby shower so everything was ready. My husband and older daughter Kailyn started timing the contractions. We were super excited. We called the doctor and he told us to work our way in. When we arrived at the hospital they hooked me up to the machine and couldn’t find her heartbeat. I thought to myself the machine must be broken. They ordered an ultrasound and the nurse just shook her head. From that point on my life will never be the same. On June 16th 2015 at 3:46am Kylie Ann Greiss was born still. She was 21 1/2 inches long and 7.1 lbs. She had her daddy’s checks and my dark full head of hair like her mommy. Our doctor had no idea what happened. My entire pregnancy was perfect. I was discharged from the hospital later on that day. Leaving the hospital empty handed was one of the hardest things I’ve ever had to do. On the car ride home there sat Kylie’s empty car seat and diaper bag. A few days later we held Kylie’s funeral. This little girl was so loved by so many. Our family was overwhelmed by all the support we received. One decision that was very hard was trying again. One June 17th 2017 we had our rainbow baby Kourtney. During our pregnancy we were told what happened with Kylie. She was on the umbilical cord for a long period time which caused a blood clot. We miss Kylie everyday. Some days the pain is there as if it just happened. I try very hard to keep Kylie’s memory alive. I speak her name often. We attend stillborn walks in her name. I would give anything to have her here with us. We experience visits from butterflies and cardinals that feel like it’s her saying hi.
