Teach a lesson, fundraise, and help public school students succeed
The Teach-A-Thon is a fundraiser, a public awareness campaign, a networking opportunity, a team-building exercise, and more...
The Teach-A-Thon connects business professionals, culinary professionals, and community leaders (Public School Champions) to the education field by having them step into the shoes of current educators for at least one in-person lesson.
By having business professionals teach actual content, we accomplish two goals: Students see the subject matter as more important, especially as many professionals can explain real-world applications of the subject. In addition, the professionals see into the classroom and discover why we need to support our public schools. As part of the program, business professionals tell colleagues of their experience to fundraise and gain support for our public schools.
All business professionals become ambassadors for public education, while fundraising for participating classrooms.
This year, participants will teach their lesson anytime between September 2025 through January 2026.
You can teach any subject you prefer, but we encourage business professionals to teach a STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, Math) or financial literacy lesson. Don't know what lesson to teach? We can provide one to you!
For more information, please contact Marilen Marnett at mmarnett@educationfund.org or 305-298-9099.

How Hector Ponte Inspires Public School Students
How Your Giving Impacts Students Like Noah
Did you know?
- Teaching quality is the single greatest determinant of student achievement.
- Nearly one-third of new teachers leave the profession after just three years; almost 50% are gone after five years.
- 9 out of 10 teachers have bought school supplies for their classrooms with their own funds (average out-of-pocket expenses total $800).
Teacher Voices
"Our business professional was amazing. She taught us about using data science for good. She showed students how to use big data to identify problems in their community. She then taught students how to write mini-grants for projects that solve those problems. One of my students is now a finalist for $1000 grant to help girls learn to code!"
-Lisa Hauser, School for Advanced Studies - North
Teacher Voices
"Our business professional was flexible, open to suggestions, engaging and made learning financial literacy fun. The students got into groups and participated in a Shark Tank experience where they had to create a company name and then present a product/idea that they were looking to get a loan to develop. The students loved it!!"
-Ana Zuniga, Coral Gables Senior High School
Funds you raise help students and teachers
Here are just a few ways the funds raised help students and teachers:
- Half of the money you raise goes to your teacher-partner's classroom for supplies, additional field trips and other things the students and teachers might not otherwise access without your support.
Funds you raise also support a variety of innovative program by The Education Fund including:
- Classroom Grants provide funds to teachers to develop and implement instructional projects that motivate and challenge students to learn.
- Food Forests for Schools provide vibrant outdoor eco-learning labs.
- SmartPath has increased students’ college and postsecondary enrollment by 34% in five pilot program schools.
