Hello, my name is Maggie Dalton and this is my second year running the half marathon for Team NEF!

I am a senior at the University of Illinois at Urbana Champaign studying to be a high school Social Studies teacher. I went to Maplebrook Elementary School, Lincoln Junior High School, and Naperville Central High School growing up. Quality education means so much to me as someone who wants to teach and someone who was privileged to receive quality education through District 203. 

NEF (Naperville Education Foundation) does such great work, especially in supporting students who may be struggling academically or financially. NEF 203 provides before and after-school programs to children and families who need childcare. NEF 203 also provides funds for implementing better accommodations for Special Education students. 50% of the money raised will go to the larger NEF foundation.

The other 50% of the money that I am raising is going directly towards Connections. Connections is a transition services school that works with students ages up to 21. Connections' transition services provide life-centered and community-based education to increase student independence across all areas of life. Some areas that Connections focuses on are Functional Academics, Vocational Skills, Independent Living Skills, Social and Emotional Skills, Self-Advocacy Skills, and Executive Functioning Skills.
