Why I'm Hiking
I'm excited to share that I’ll be hiking the Grand Canyon this spring on behalf of Opportunity International as a founding member of Team Opportunity!
As you might know, I support Opportunity International because their mission means a lot to me. This mission, paired with my passion for adventure, made for the perfect match to take on a bold goal to raise $6,000 to help unlock opportunities for Malawian women living on less than $1 per day. Through my training this year, I am working to help these women lift their families out of extreme poverty. With your support, women will receive resources to meet their immediate needs and empower them to start businesses, generate income, feed their families, and send their children to school.
Will you join me by donating to my page and supporting this important cause? I’ve included information about Opportunity International below.
* please note that all of your donations go directly to the cause. I will be supporting the cost of my travel and the hike itself.

My Training
For this trip we will be hiking the South Kaibab Trail, descending into the canyon accross the Black Bridge all the way down to the Colorado River. Then comes the most challenging part, the 5,000 foot ascent back to the South Rim. This 14 mile trip for a total of 11 hours of hiking.
I have begun training by ramping up my hiking and uping the resitance on my bike. I am hoping that all this training in the winter in Colorado translates to the warm weather we are expecting for the trip!
