This fundraising page was created when one of my close family members was diagnosed with pulmonary fibrosis. Shown in the profile photo of this fundraiser, this family member is incredibly kind, resilient, and caring. We have only met a couple times because we live so far apart, and especially with his recent diagnosis, I am worried about the amount of time we will be able to spend with each other: but, I strongly and wholeheartedly believe that he will beat pulmonary fibrosis. Funding research is crucial to finding a cure for pulmonary fibrosis. With this page, I hope to raise funds and awareness for pulmonary fibrosis, and help towards finding a cure, for my family, and for everyone with pulmonary fibrosis. Please donate if you can!

This fundraiser is created in coordination with the Genetics and Genomics Club, a youth-led group dedicated to teaching genetics, scientific equity, and funding genetic research to find solutions for incurable illnesses. Pulmonary fibrosis is a condition that causes lung tissue to become thickened, stiff, and scarred. The lungs eventually lose their ability to transfer oxygen into the bloodstream, making everyday activities such as breathing and walking extremely difficult. It is a progressive disease, which means it tends to worsen over time. Every individual diagnosed with pulmonary fibrosis has a unique experience with the disease, and there is no “standard” or expected clinical course. With no known cure, the disease is often fatal within three to five years of diagnosis. Over 250,000 Americans are living with PF today. Approximately 50,000 new cases are diagnosed each year.
Because of the work of the PFF, there is hope for those living with PF. Funds raised will support the PFF’s mission to advance research, empower our community, and transform care so that everyone with pulmonary fibrosis can live a better life.
