Now serving over 1,000 public grade school students -- kids primarily from economically-distressed communities who are reading below their grade level and/or are English language learners -- Read Ahead works because it develops a bond between the student and their mentor that helps the child imagine the possibilities ahead of them. The data shows that not only does reading comprehension improve, but so too do important factors like confidence and class room behavior.
I am back at it after having been injured in the 2019 NYC full marathon, and so this race on March 15th marks the beginning of my return! The 50th running of the full NYC Marathon awaits on November 1st! But please join Teresa and me in supporting this run and helping Read Ahead continue to serve NYC grade school students and strengthen its program.
