I will be running the Hot Chocolate 15K on October 29th with Team Snow City Arts in hopes to raise funds for this great organization. Snow City Arts provides art education to children and youth in Chicago area hospitals (Lurie Children’s Hospital, Rush Children’s Hospital, John H. Stroger, Jr. Hospital, Children’s Hospital University of Illinois and Central DuPage Hospital). Whether a child is in the hospital for a long-term stay or a short one, Snow City Arts turns their time to heal into a time to learn, providing these young patients with instruction in creative writing, music, visual arts, filmmaking and theater. Each arts-based workshop is benchmarked to state and federal learning standards and can be used for classroom credit, helping these students remain in-step with their peers.
After reaching my goal of $250, I am now working to get to $500, which can purchase an iPad that is used to bring filmmaking, music editing, and stop-motion animation to a student’s bedside
There is so much more to learn about SCA and I encourage you to check out their website, www.snowcityarts.org!
