Join Me in Supporting Special Children's Charities

Helping children with intellectual disabilities experience inclusion, confidence, and joy

Why I'm running for #TeamSCC

I started running at a young age with my dad, but for many years it was something I approached casually. Running was always part of my life, but it wasn’t something I fully committed to or took seriously.

That changed last year when my sister in law encouraged me to sign up for the Cowtown Half Marathon in Fort Worth, Texas. Finishing that race showed me what I was capable of and pushed me to think bigger. It gave me the confidence to set a personal goal of training for and completing the Chevron Houston Marathon this past January.

That journey ultimately led me to Team Special Children’s Charities.

I am proud to represent Special Children’s Charities as part of Team SCC while training for the Chicago Marathon. I have always wanted the opportunity to run a major marathon, and I love the city of Chicago. Being able to pursue this goal while supporting an organization that plays such an important role in the Chicago community makes this experience especially meaningful to me.

Since 1969, Special Children’s Charities has provided inclusive sports, recreation, and enrichment opportunities for children and adults with intellectual disabilities throughout Chicago. These programs help individuals build confidence, independence, and a true sense of belonging through participation, teamwork, and community.

By supporting my fundraising efforts, you are helping ensure these opportunities remain accessible for the athletes and families who rely on them. Your donation directly supports adaptive equipment, coaching, training, and year round programming that removes barriers and creates inclusive spaces where everyone can thrive.

My fundraising goal is $2,500.

Any contribution makes a real difference. If you are unable to donate, sharing this page is another meaningful way to support this cause and help spread awareness.

Thank you for being part of this journey and for helping make Chicago a more inclusive community.
