Since 1969, Special Children’s Charities has been the driving force behind inclusion and empowerment for children and adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities throughout Chicago.
Special Children’s Charities aims to transcend boundaries and redefine possibilities by serving as a symbol of empowerment and inclusivity within both the disability community and the City of Chicago.
The spirit of accomplishment, inclusion, and joy that are part of the marathon experience are what we strive to provide for thousands of our participants in all 77 Chicago neighborhoods. With your help, we are creating a more inclusive Chicago–one mile at a time.
Running has been a part of my life since middle school, from years of track and field through college to half marathons and my first full marathon this past fall. As an elementary school adjustment counselor, I see every day how empowering and inclusive environments help children feel confident, supported, and respected.
That's why I'm proud to be running the Chicago Marathon in support of Special Children's Charities! Their programs empower children and adults with disabilities through inclusive sports and recreational opportunities that inspire confidence, build community, and celebrate each individual's abilities. Through athletic experiences, these children discover and build their physical strength, create lasting friendships, and experience the joy and belonging that come from being part of a team.
Every mile I train and every dollar I raise will help Special Children's Charities expand access to these life-changing programs. Thank you for supporting me and for helping create a more inclusive, empowered community
