Why I'm running for #TeamSCC

Since 1969, Special Children’s Charities has worked to empower children and adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities throughout Chicago by creating opportunities for inclusion, support, and joy in all 77 neighborhoods.

This October, I’ll be running my first marathon, the Chicago Marathon, in support of Team Special Children’s Charities. This cause is especially meaningful to me because I’ll also be starting my career as a pediatric emergency department nurse this August. Supporting and caring for children has always been something I’ve felt passionate about, which makes this experience even more meaningful to me.

The spirit of inclusion, accomplishment, and community that this organization represents is something I hope to carry into both my nursing career and this marathon journey. I’m so grateful for the opportunity to run while supporting an organization that means so much to me and the work I hope to do in the future.

Every donation helps Special Children’s Charities continue providing programs and opportunities for children and adults with disabilities throughout Chicago. Thank you so much for supporting me and this amazing organization!

Again, thank you for supporting the thousands of participants with intellectual and developmental disabilities in Chicago!
