Why I'm running for #TeamSCC

Here we go again.  Chicago Marathon 2026!  (And yes, I say I'm never doing this again EVERY year).

I’m running the Chicago Marathon this year and I have the privilege of raising funds to support an organization and mission that means a lot to me. This year, I’m proud to run for Special Children’s Charities, which supports athletes and children with intellectual and developmental disabilities through inclusive programs, opportunities, and community.

As most of you know, this is a mission that has been meaningful to me on a personal level.  I was lucky enough to see first-hand what organizations like Special Children's Charities can do to bring joy through inclusion.

Special Children’s Charities aims to transcend boundaries and redefine possibilities by serving as a symbol of empowerment and inclusivity within both the disability community and the City of Chicago.

While I'll be going this without my special Coach Murphy, I expect he's watching (judging) from a snack bar on the other side of the rainbow bridge!  And stayed tuned for Barkley's attempt at supporting my training effort!

Again, thank you for supporting the thousands of participants with intellectual and developmental disabilities in Chicago!
