I’m running the Chicago Marathon this year in support of Special Children’s Charities. Special Children’s Charities supports children and adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities across Chicago by funding programs, camps, athletics, life-skills opportunities, and community services that help people thrive and participate fully in city life. In short: they do real, meaningful work that deserves real support.
Meanwhile, I’ll be doing the less useful part: waking up early, running unreasonable distances, and pretending long runs are “fun.”
My fundraising goal is $2,500, which sounds like a lot until you compare it to the emotional damage of mile 22. Every donation helps support an outstanding cause — and gives me one more reason not to quit mid-race and open a donut shop.
If you’re able to contribute, thank you. Every dollar goes directly to supporting Chicago children and adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities through inclusive programs, services, and opportunities that make a real difference. You’ll be helping an outstanding cause — while I suffer through 26.2 miles at no additional cost to you.
