Running the Chicago Marathon has been a goal of mine for as long as I can remember. I grew up watching the race every year and always imagined what it would feel like to be out there running through the streets of Chicago. Because of that, I have always wanted the Chicago Marathon to be my first marathon. Sports and running have been a huge part of my life, and they have helped shape who I am. I have played sports for most of my life and have always been passionate about staying active and pushing myself to improve.
One of the reasons I connect with Special Children’s Charities is because I understand how important it is to have opportunities and support systems that help people thrive. I have lived with a serious case of ADHD since I was a child, and it has impacted many areas of my life. Physical activity and sports have always been an outlet that helped me focus, build confidence, and stay motivated. Because of that experience, I believe strongly in the power that athletics and community programs can have for individuals who face challenges. The mission of Special Children’s Charities to create opportunities for children and adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities really resonates with me.
Running with Special Children’s Charities would mean that my first marathon is about more than just a personal accomplishment. It would be about running for a purpose and helping raise funds that support programs that empower people in our communities. I would be proud to represent the organization, share its mission with others, and use the opportunity to make a meaningful impact while achieving a lifelong goal.
