My marathon journey started with a pretty selfish goal: to improve my endurance and cardio fitness. However, once I learned that I could run a Major to support a charity, it made the idea of the race even more special. I was specifically looking for organizations supporting children, women, and maternal health—because frankly, those are the three things I care about most at this point in my life.

I was fortunate to secure a spot with Team Special Children’s Charities (SCC), a wonderful organization doing amazing things to bring a spirit of inclusion and empowerment to children with disabilities. This won't be the last time I’m raising funds for this cause as part of my fitness journey, but I’m incredibly proud to be starting here.

The spirit of accomplishment, inclusion, and joy that are part of the marathon experience are exactly what Team SCC strives to provide for thousands of participants across Chicago. With your help, we are creating a more inclusive community—one mile at a time.
