Last year I ran for a cause that was close to Rachel’s heart, pediatric cancer research at MSK.  This year in Chicago, I’m running for a cause that’s particularly meaningful to me given my line of work.  I’m raising money for Special Children’s Charities #Team SCC, a Chicago organization that since 1969 has been the driving force behind inclusion and empowerment for children and adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities throughout Chicago. Special Children’s Charities aims to transcend boundaries and redefine possibilities by serving as a symbol of empowerment and inclusivity within both the disability community and the City of Chicago.

As a neuropsychologist, I work regularly with children and adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities — and I see every day how much these individuals and their families need support, access, and advocacy. Special Children's Charities does exactly that, across all 77 Chicago neighborhoods, and I'm proud to run for them.

The spirit of accomplishment, inclusion, and joy that are part of the marathon experience are what SCC strives to provide for thousands of our participants in all 77 Chicago neighborhoods. With your help, we are creating a more inclusive Chicago–one mile at a time.
