Life has a funny way of reminding us that setbacks don’t always mean the end of the journey—they’re often just a different path to the same destination.
A little while ago, I shared that I was hoping to run the Chicago Marathon. Things didn’t work out the way I expected, and I was honestly disappointed. But sometimes one door closes so another can open with even greater purpose.
I’m incredibly grateful to announce that I’ve been accepted to run the Chicago Marathon with Special Children’s Charities.
Since 1969, they’ve been creating opportunities for children and adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities across all 77 Chicago neighborhoods, promoting inclusion, empowerment, and the joy that comes from participating in sports and community. Every mile I run will represent their mission to build a more inclusive Chicago.
This marathon is no longer just about crossing a finish line—it’s about helping others discover that they have no finish line on what they can accomplish.
Over the coming months, I’ll be training hard while raising funds to support this incredible organization. If you’re able to contribute, no matter the amount, it would mean a great deal to me and, more importantly, to the individuals and families this organization serves.
Thank you to everyone who has encouraged me through every twist and turn. I’m excited to get to work.
One mile at a time.
