Why we're running for #TeamSCC
As former Division I athletes, competition and physical performance have always been a huge part of our lives. But as we’ve transitioned out of that chapter, we’ve come to appreciate movement and sport in a deeper way — not just as something to train for, but as a privilege. Running the Chicago Marathon gives us the opportunity to use that privilege for something bigger than ourselves.
We want to represent and honor children and adults with disabilities who inspire strength, resilience, and determination every single day. Their courage redefines what it means to push limits — and that’s the kind of motivation we want to carry with us through every mile.
This cause reminds us that the true spirit of sport isn’t about records or medals; it’s about community, inclusion, and showing up for others. Running for #TeamSCC allows us to combine our passion for athletics with a purpose that really matters — helping create opportunities and support for individuals with disabilities to thrive.
We’re proud to take on the marathon together, not just as teammates again, but as advocates — running for those who can’t, and celebrating those who do so much with so much heart.
