Harper's Story

Four years ago my then 3 year old granddaughter, Harper, suffered a sudden and complete loss of kidney function. She spent two months in Pediatric Intensive Care at Children's Hospital in Minneapolis. A couple of times we almost lost her. But the care team at Children's did an excellent job of stabilizing Harper's condition and getting her to the point where she could be released for home dialysis and evetually (six months later) she was healthy enough for a kidney transplant courtesy of her mother. What our family realized is how lucky we are to have such a high quality healthcare facility for children right in our own city. When I became aware of the connection between the Twin City Marathon and fundraising for Childrens I knew this would be a perfect way for me to give back to an organization that we owe so much to.

Thank You,
