If anyone knows me, they know that when I have a goal in mind I don't give up until that goal is crushed. After I graduated HS and started working in healthcare as a medical assistant, it was my Nursing Supervisor JJ who said I would be a great nurse and urged me to go back to school. So, that is exactly what I did. After many years of part-time night classes getting my pre-reqs for nursing school, I finally got accepted into a 3 year, full time BSN-RN program. Goal one done.

My goal in nursing school was to graduate with honors in the top of my class and pass my NCLEX on the first go around. Well, I graduated in the top 4% of my class with sum cum laude honors and sure enough, even though it felt like I failed as soon as I left the testing facility, I passed my NCLEX on the first go round.

Once I was an offical licensed RN, my goal was to continue my career at Children's working with the best patients on the planet.....kids! Luckily, I got the opportunity to enter the new grad program and got a job in the NICU. I get to take care of the tinest fighters that are fragile and resilient, which has been a dream come true.

I started running in my late 20's and it was a love/hate relationship and now its a passion. I love the freeness it brings and it helped me get through nursing school. I would go to the gym before class when I had a big test and study my notes while running on the treadmill listening to classical music, which really helped me focus and absorb the material I needed to know.
