Brooklyn is an amazing girl; she has a smile that can light up the room. Brooklyn was diagnosed with Rett Syndrome on May 21st 2007, just one week after her second birthday. Rett Syndrome has taken away many things from our little girl like walking, talking, and feeding herself but it has not taken away her loving spirit and infectious giggle. She is our little hero; teaching us about love, joy, patience, and perseverance. Our lives are full of love because of her.
Brooklyn is just like most ten year old girls, she loves hanging with her friends, watching tv - KC Undercover, Dog with a Blog, and Girl Meets World are a few of her favorites right now. She loves to read, go shopping and to the movies and loves sleep overs at her Gammy and Pappy's house! She might also be the BIGGEST One Direction fan on this planet! (Which mom admits is WAY more fun to listen to than the Wiggles which is her little brothers obsession!!)
Brooklyn is in the fifth grade this year at Ryan Park Elementary and loves every second of it! She has made SO MANY friends at school. Brooklyn is quite the little social butterfly getting invited to birthday parties, play dates, and lots more! She had a tough start to 2015 with a hip surgery and then a broken femur but she is a trooper and is taking in all in stride - she just hates missing school!
She is also the best big sister -- she loves spending time with her little brother Boston and best little puppy mommy too - she got a new mini goldendoodle puppy for Christmas and is IN LOVE!
As a family we are dedicated to raising awareness and money for Rett Syndrome research and know that if we all work together, a cure will be found! Thank you for taking time to learn a little about Brooklyn! For more stories on our life with Rett Syndrome please visit our family blog too!
