2026 Paddle for Scott Miners

This time it's personal! Paddling for Scott Miners.

I’m participating in The Friendship Paddle 2026 to support Scott Miners and his family.

Scott is a husband, father, surfer, volunteer, and longtime Santa Barbara community member.

I met Scott at Rincon one early morning in March 2011 where we shared a very memorable late season surf session. Clean, cold, calm, uncrowded, beautiful surf. We had both gone back down to look at the waves post surf and Scott was taking pictures. I asked if he would share them. They scroll on my phone’s home page to this day (below).

This past season I saw Scott on the beach on a number of early mornings, taking pictures of his son surfing. Scott was sick and couldn't surf. After a few of these mornings, I learned Scott didn't have a cold, but an aggressive colorectal cancer diagnosis, Stage 4.  This is where The Friendship Paddle kicks in. His prognosis is not good and so the paddle event is moving up to July 19th from the orignal plan for Fall. Scott and his family need community support.  Please help me relieve some of Scott's burden and support my paddle across the SB Channel this month.

Thanks for your consideration,

Jason
