My Friendship Paddle Fundraising Page

I’m paddling for Scott Miners, the 2026 Friendship Paddle Honoree

I’ve been invited back to participate in the annual Santa Barbara Friendship Paddle. Last year was my first time making the trek across the Santa Barbara Channel, paddling from the Channel Islands to the harbor in support of one of my closest friends, Nick Fields.

This year, I’m paddling for my friend Scott Miners and his family. I actually met Scott through Nick, after they befriended each other during cancer treatment. I’ve shared some incredible "firsts" with Scott, from surfing the Palm Springs Wave Pool to golfing the beautiful Sandpiper course (where he generously gifted me his prized golf tee ;)).

Scott is a husband, father, surfer, volunteer, and longtime Santa Barbara community member. In 2021, he was diagnosed with colorectal cancer. After years of relentless treatment, his cancer has progressed to Stage 4.

Even while facing his own diagnosis, Scott has never stopped showing up for others. He has volunteered with Meals on Wheels, built deep bonds within the Cancer Center community, and supported the Friendship Paddle family itself. In fact, last year, while quietly fighting his own battle, Scott was out there paddling, encouraging, and supporting another honoree.

Now, it is our turn to show up for Scott.

Every donation helps surround Scott, Jenn, Kira, and Caleb with financial and emotional support during an incredibly difficult chapter. Your gift helps ease the burden of treatment, lost work, and the day-to-day weight that cancer places on a family.

Please donate what you can and share this page with friends, family, and anyone who wants to rally behind Scott.

Thank you for helping us support Scott and his family.
