Every October, I get the privilege of inviting people I love to be part of something I care deeply about—Daystar’s annual fall fundraiser, The October Thing.
After three decades, I’m still amazed by what happens here every day.
Families walk through our doors carrying things they never expected to carry. Anxiety. Grief. Illness. Depression. Loss. Sometimes they come feeling overwhelmed and unsure of what to do next. And one of the things I love most about Daystar is that we get to meet them in those places with hope, encouragement and practical help.
And because of generous friends like you, we get to say yes to families who might otherwise have to say, “We simply can’t afford counseling right now.”
That matters deeply to me.
Daystar currently serves more than 2,000 families, and we remain committed to offering a sliding scale to any family in need. We never want finances to be the reason a child or family can’t receive the care and support they need.
Over the years, I’ve watched God expand the reach of this little ministry in ways I never could have imagined. We’ve had opportunities to walk alongside families in our own community and to step into places of tragedy and loss around the country. But whether we’re responding to a crisis hundreds of miles away or welcoming a nervous child through our front door in Nashville, the mission remains the same:
We want kids and families to know they don’t have to walk through hard things alone.
That’s what The October Thing helps make possible.
