WHY AM I DOING THIS?

In March of 2020, at the very beginning of the Covid 19 pandemic, my brother Ken started not feeling well.  He went to the doctor and was diagnosed with stage 4 pancreatic cancer.  He died 2 weeks later.

My family was devastated.  I learned that pancreatic cancer is the third leading cause of cancer-related deaths in the United States. I also learned that the way to possibly survive this deadly disease is early detection.  Since that time I have made it my mission to: EDUCATE AS MANY PEOPLE AS I CAN ABOUT THE SYMPTOMS OF PANCREATIC CANCER AND MAKE PEOPLE MORE AWARE OF THESE SIGNS SO EARLY TREATMENT CAN OCCUR WITH BETTER OUTCOMES.

WHY SKY FOUNDATION?

The Sky Foundation's mission hits home with me.  It aligns with my mission.  Their mission is: RAISING AWARENESS & FUNDING INNOVATIVE RESEARCH FOR THE EARLY DETECTION & TREATMENT OF PANCREATIC CANCER.

WHY SUPPORT TEAM MICKEY?

This will be my 7th year participating in the Sky Movement!  Each year I have succeeded in making more people aware of this disease and the importance of The Sky Foundation.  I am reaching more people and continue to do so.

Sky Foundation awards seed-money grants to scientists and clinicians from coast to coast who are pursuing research of great promise in the areas of early detection, prevention or treatment. This start-up funding helps researchers get to the point in their work where they can successfully attract financial support from the National Institutes of Health and other national funding sources.
