We are walking to let our neighbors know Oklahomans will not walk away from welcome.
There have recently been major changes in the landscape of refugee resettlement at the federal level. Unfortunately, national funding cuts for resettlement are directly affecting the work we do here in OKC and putting the services our new neighbors rely on at risk.
At the Walk for Welcome, you will walk in solidarity with new neighbors who were promised arrival before the program was canceled and to raise funds for crucial programming that benefits new neighbors already living in OKC. Programming such as language classes, student support, employment services, social services and more are at risk.
Walk for Welcome is a family-friendly event! With a walk length of just over 1 mile, kids activities/crafts, and Scissortail's Farmer's Market and splash pad running nearby, this event will be suitable for everyone.
