Thank you for visiting my Bank with a Rail Bird fundraising page! You’ve probably seen me fundraise for derby in the past and the song and dance is very much the same. Roller Derby is more than just women hitting each other on roller skates. We bring together people from all different demographics and what we do as a team is nothing short of magical. We empower women and girls through this sport by valuing body positivity and fitness over fashion, we support strength and teamwork, we turn shy people into assertive monsters on wheels, we work with charities and provide community service, and we reinforce all of these values into the next generation of junior skaters. Banked track derby comes with other financial hurdles from time to time and occasionally we rely on friends, family, and fans to help us keep our mission alive.
As a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization your donation (big or small) is tax deductible. Your generosity won’t find a group more inclusive, supportive, and motivated than Tilted Thunder. Since we currently don’t have a warehouse we have to build and tear down our track for every event we hold. Here is our baby arriving on pallets in a semi-truck ready for repairs and construction. Each piece of track weighs 250lbs+!
We don’t hire professionals to build the track, every member of TTRB (and some of our family and friends) participates in this build and tear down. We all learn parts of the process and put our love into this each time. It shows just how far we will go to keep Banked Track derby alive in the PNW.
Many steps go into the process of building this track safely. We take great care to ensure the safety of everyone building and skating on the final construction.
