In 2026, I’ll join the Timmerman Traverse to climb Mount Kilimanjaro, raising funds for the Damon Runyon Cancer Research Foundation. Together with a team of biotech leaders, we aim to raise over $1M to fuel bold, early-stage cancer research.
For me, this mission is personal. Many years ago, I was diagnosed with a rare condition that carried a 100% chance of developing medullary thyroid cancer. Thankfully, we knew exactly what to do: remove the thyroid. Since then, my only reminder has been a daily pill for thyroid hormone — pretty easy to live with. I’ve always felt incredibly fortunate to have had clear answers and a straightforward solution, and I wish more patients could have that kind of clarity.
That sense of gratitude drives me to act. Too many patients don’t get early diagnoses, clear paths forward, or effective treatments. Damon Runyon exists to change that, by backing brilliant young scientists whose discoveries form the foundation for tomorrow’s cures.
I became a venture investor because I believe in bridging bold academic science into transformative therapies that improve patients’ lives. That’s what drives me. Damon Runyon shares that same mission: supporting researchers to pursue high-risk, high-reward ideas at the earliest stages, when funding is scarce but the potential for breakthroughs is greatest.
I’m honored to be part of this effort and to commit to raising $50,000 for cancer research. Every step on that mountain is for patients and families who deserve better options. I would be grateful for your support in helping reach this goal.
