A couple of years ago, dear friends of mine were informed that their beautiful two-year-old granddaughter was suffering from a rare form of brain cancer. I have supported them as much and as often as possible, but not nearly as much as I would have liked. Life has now provided me with time and opportunity to participate in a much bigger way. I have started my own team (F Cancer -working title) to reach out to my coworkers, my Navy Reserve compadres as well as my other friends and neighbors to elicit as much participation and support as possible. We hope to really make a difference for this catastrophic childhood diagnosis. I have also enlisted (voluntold) my son and my husband in my efforts to reach an even larger dynamic.
