I'm running the 5K this year for the FeLV Cats of Casitas, Kitten Rescue's no kill sanctuary. Most city and county shelters are not allowed to adopt out cats and kittens who test positive for FeLV and must therefore euthanize them if another shelter is not able to take them in. Many FeLV+ kittens are euthanized even though they can kick the virus and test negative by the time they are 6 months old. Kitten Rescue is the only shelter in Los Angeles with dedicated space for FeLV kitties. These kitties are up for adoption and can be fostered, and are able to live out their lives receiving all necessary care and endless amounts of love at Kitten Rescue's no-kill sactuary, Casitas, without fear of being killed.
