This month, I will be campaiging for the Downtown Women's Center in Los Angeles.
The Downtown Women’s Center (DWC) is the only organization in Los Angeles focused exclusively on serving and empowering women experiencing homelessness and formerly homeless women. DWC envisions a Los Angeles with every woman housed and on a path to personal stability. Founded in 1978, DWC was the first permanent supportive housing provider for women in the U.S.
This is an amazing organization that works tirelessly to provide support and service to the women in our community who are experiencing homelessness. Not only do they provide shelter, DWC provides resources for women from mental health to employment, ensuring support through every step in the process of getting Her Housed.
One in three people experiencing homelessness in Los Angeles are women. As you can imagine, Covid-19 has brought forth more obstacles for the DWC, one of which being their ability to host fundraising events to ensure the continuating of these life changing programs.
