I found a small lump on my left breast in 2016. I never had a mammogram because I had just gotten over thyroid cancer & I figured I was good to go! NOT so- there it was...again... cancer.  Once it was confirmed a cancer- things moved very quickly. ER+ & 6 months of Neoadjuvant chemotherapy -because biopsy's showed it had moved to the lymph nodes. So a bilateral mastectomy with tissue expanders inserted after surgery- ovaries out , follow up visit to find out pathology report showed "micro-metastatic" disease was still there! This area of treatment gets grey & I learned alot from it. Lots of different schools of thought. With several opinions and a hopeful outcome, I had an Axillary dissection, then 30 rounds of radiation. For the next 5-10 years, I'll be taking Letrozole a hormone based chemotherapy, to prevent the chance of reoccurance. At the end of January 2018 I'll have the expanders out and finally feel somewhat whole again. I'd like to carry a torch for myself, my family & friends.  

GG carried my family & me through a hard time. Gloria Gemma is the real deal! There is so much for to learn about breast cancer. 1 in 6 women in Rhode Island alone will be effected. We need Gloria Gemma to support those touched by Breast Cancer.

I will be forever greatful for this Foundation.
