What’s happening:
On March 25, I’ll be competing with my trivia team to support Read Ahead, a New York City nonprofit dedicated to helping kids develop the literacy and social-emotional skills they need to thrive.

Why:
Around 50% of students in NYC public schools are struggling with one of the most foundational skills for success: reading. Literacy truly is the gateway to learning, confidence, and opportunity.

That’s where Read Ahead comes in. With the right guidance, every student can become a joyful, confident, and fluent reader. Read Ahead intervenes early, providing weekly sessions that help 1st–5th graders build literacy skills, foster a love of reading, and grow their confidence.

This is a mission I'm passionate about. If you've known me for awhile you may remember that I spent most of my life planning to be a classroom teacher. Before Penguin Random House, I taught in the NYC public school system, and worked with hundreds of NYC teenagers to build their literacy, writing, and intrepersonal skills.
