Crash Story:
On July 19, 2013, Morgan Lake was driving across the Chesapeake Bay Bridge, heading out for an evening with friends, when her life changed forever. A speeding 18-wheeler semi-truck collided with her car from behind, forcing it into the vehicle ahead and ultimately pushing Morgan's car over the bridge’s barrier. Her car plummeted 13 feet into the water below.
As her vehicle began to sink, Morgan initially panicked, convinced she wouldn’t survive. However, she managed to unbuckle her seatbelt, climb through the broken driver’s side window, and swim to the surface. Despite being in shock, Morgan swam 100 yards to a rocky area beneath the bridge. She pulled herself onto the rocks, recited her mom’s phone number to bystanders, and waited for help. Miraculously, Morgan survived the crash with non-life-threatening injuries, but the experience left her forever changed.
