My Personal Story
I'm raising money for the Unite for Bleeding Disorders Walk!
Hello!
I’m thrilled to be participating in the 2026 Unite for Bleeding Disorders Walk, a fundraiser to support the bleeding disorders community! All money raised stays within our community and funds crucial advocacy, education, research, and support services. I’m passionate about this cause and need your help! Every donation—big or small—helps me reach my fundraising goal and directly impacts this important cause.
Here's how you can help:
- Donate: Contribute whatever you can. No amount is too small!
- Spread the Word: Share my fundraising page with your friends, family, and social networks. Let’s spread awareness so we can raise more!
My family has over a 40 year history of living with bleeding disorders. My brother, whom is 5 years older than me, was born with Type III Severe vonWillebrand Disease. I was then born with the same exact severity. To have Type III is a 1 in a million chance. We beat the odds to say the least! VWD is a bleeding disorder in which our blood does not have vonWillebrand Factor (We have less than 1%, and less than 8% F8) So our bleeding episodes can be pretty severe. I have a younger brother who also was diagnosed with Type III years later, and 5 nieces & nephews with milder forms.
February 1992, my family was in a traumatic car accident. My father, mother, brother, and myself were all injured with me and brother being the worst. I lost over 50% of my blood and actually died twice due to a major laceration on my right facial cheek. We both had bleeding on the brain as well. I have always said the good Lord kept me here for a purpose. I am still searching...but he will show me the way!
I raise funds for our local bleeding disorder community becuase they are truly like family. They have always been there when we've needed them whether it be for educational purposes, family/kid camp, providing us with medical ID bracelets, and financial assistance when needed. To be able to give back to them even just a little in any way I can, means so much to me! With your support, we can show them just how special they are to our community.
Thank you for standing by me in this effort! Your support means the world to me!
God Bless,
Stacy B./Team captain for VWD WARRIORS
MY "MIRACLE MEDICINE"
I have to take a clotting factor medication to replace the clotting factors I am missing (vonWillebrand Factor and Factor 8) through a vein that I can administer myself at home thankfully (with minor/moderate bleeds of course)
ASK ME ABOUT VWD
I am an open book. Feel free to ask me any questions you may have about my bleeding disorder or my local bleeding disorder chapter.
