My original desire was to train for Twin Cities Marathon with a goal to run a Boston Qualifying time and to raise money for an important charity dear to me, the Children's Miracle Network.  My daughter has been seen at Gillette for over 13 years.  And that many surgeries as well!

The closest charity group I could join was for Children's Hospital.  They provide many services children in our Metro area, especially children fighting a cancer diagnosis.  Close enough, 'Let's do this!' I thought.

Well, Memorial Day weekend a very good friend and co-worker was diagnosed with Acute Myloid Leukemia and I, and our entire community, focused on supporting her and her family.  A generous amount of funds were raised.  It didn't seem like it was the time to add another 'ask' for this event.

See, I became injured and stopped training for my BQ time.  I stopped planning on running the marathon entirely.  I was resigned to making a contribution to Children's and sitting the race out.  I basically quit ?.

Then Anna, my friend with AML, died.  And another friend, Laurie, was diagnosed with breast cancer.  And then a nurse practitioner, Sarah, that was part of my daughter's care team at Gillette passed away from cancer.  

I am mad at cancer and other illness that robs people of function.   I CANNOT QUIT.  I am blessed.  I have a healthy body, injured but I'm alive.  I can make a difference.  I will do my very best to get to the end of 26.2- even if I have to walk.  Because I can.  Others don't get to 'sit it out.'

Help me do this- for Anna, for Laurie, for Sarah. For every little one that gets sick.
