The Team Type 1 Foundation’s aspirational goal is to disprove all common diabetes stigma. We strive to create a world in which every person with diabetes has adequate access to diabetes management education and treatment and knows, beyond a shadow of a doubt, that their goals and dreams are achievable.  We strive to inspire… and prove what’s possible. 

In 2011, I was fortunate to spend Thanksgiving with Team Type 1 in Rwanda, as the men's pro team were racing the Tour of Rwanda, members of the team and I rode throughout the "Land Of a Thounsand Hills" — as the organization was raising awareness, providing diabetes testing and meeting with key stakeholders, the athletes and I got the opportunity to visit various diabetes communities, sharing our stories and outlook on living with diabetes.

It was an incredible, life-changing experience and grateful to have gotten the opporunity to see the impact Team Type 1 has been making firsthand and continuing to show What's Possible with diabetes together. 

Beginning in 2020, TT1 will focus its efforts on affordable access to diabetes care in the States. By working with industry, government, patients, and other key stakeholders, we will fight to make insulin affordable to everyone who needs it to live.
