Let's Step Up for One Digital World & UPLIFT San Diego!
Thank you for joining my efforts to raise funds for two great nonprofits! One Digital World and UPLIFT exist to make transformative impact around the world and in San Diego through virtual learning.
Both these groups are worthy of your support. I am the founder of One Digital World and serve as Executive Director, supporting refugee empowerment by setting up computer labs inside refugee camps and shelters and providing educational programs that prepare refugees for self-reliance in new countries. UPLIFT serves our local San Diego refugee population of school children with free virtual tutoring to improve literacy and academic performance. The world is facing the largest refugee crisis since World War II. As marginalized and disadvantaged persons are persecuted, they are forced to seek shelter in safe countries where they often do not speak the language, have skills to join the labor market or have the support of their friends and family.
One Digital World reduces global inequality by connecting refugees worldwide with computers and essential education. Refugees face additional barriers to access to education and employment. Therefore, One Digital World implements courses to empower refugees to become self-reliant before they integrate into new countries and cultures.
Graduates earn certifications from Typing.com and Microsoft plus earn Continuing Education credit from the University of San Diego. https://www.onedigitalworld.net/
About UPLIFT - Urban People Living in Faith & Trust - Uplifting San Diego’s inner-city communities by transforming the lives of people in need with Homeless Services & Student Services including free virtual tutoring for low income students and housing placement assistance for unsheltered population. https://www.upliftsandiego.org/
UPLIFT URGENT COVID Reopening related needs include funding for:
- Student Services - added staff time & equipment to host our FREE Kids At Heart Tutoring as a hybrid model this school year, with both site-based sessions AND virtual platform for low income students, who are especially at risk of falling behind in school right now.
- Homeless Services - homeless housing support for Home Team Volunteer Advocate program, turning Shelter to Home for those in transitional shelters and motels
