Let's Step Up for STAR/PAL & UPLIFT San Diego!
Thank you for joining my efforts to raise funds for two of my favorite nonprofits! STAR/PAL and UPLIFT exist to make transformative impact in San Diego.I believe in both organizations wholeheartedly. I serve as a Board President for STAR/PAL and have worked with UPLIFT for many years. More importantly, I have witnessed with my own eyes and heart the incredible impact these groups have on the children and families they serve. Here are links to their websites so you can learn more:
About STAR/PAL -
Mission: to empower underserved youth to build a safer and more prosperous community by engaging with law enforcement in positive recreational activities and collaborative partners.
Objectives:
- Promote youth safety through crime & violence prevention education
- Cultivate youth empowerment through civic engagement & enrichment activities
- Offer youth programming in underserved communities
What we do:
STAR/PAL offers free programs for underserved and at-risk youth in San Diego that are led by law enforcement officers. These programs focus on violence prevention, mentoring, leadership, civic engagement, outdoor enrichment, and physical fitness. Our U.S. Bank Center to Serve Youth, located at Colina Del Sol Park in the heart of Mid-City, gives a community law enforcement presence that provides safety to hundreds of youth who walk to and from school each day. Every year, thousands of youth from inner-city neighborhoods throughout San Diego participate in our impactful programs.

About UPLIFT - Urban People Living in Faith & Trust - Uplifting San Diego’s inner-city communities by transforming the lives of people in need with Homeless Services & Student Services.

UPLIFT URGENT COVID Reopening needs include:
- Student Services - added staff time & equipment to host FREE Kids At Heart Tutoring as a hybrid model this school year, with both site-based sessions AND virtual platform for low income students, who are especially at risk of falling behind in school right now.
- Homeless Services - homeless housing support for Home Team Volunteer Advocate program, turning Shelter to Home for those in transitional shelters and motels
