Why will I be rappelling on June 1 down Two City Center in downtown Allentown?   

I believe that God calls each of us for community; we are here to take care of our brother and sister, in turn they take care of us.   The theologian Howard Thurman asked, what does the religion of Jesus have to say to those with their backs against the wall?    We are called to assure the basic human rights of food, housing, health, and dignity in a compassionate and loving way.    No exceptions.  

As a board member of the Lehigh Conference of Churches, I am priviledged to witness how the Conference fulfills this call every single day.   The very least I can do is go down 11 stories on June 1st to spread the word about this great work and raise funds for it to continue!  

People are treated with dignity and love at the Conference, and they do their best to reach out to the homeless, housing insecure, hungry and those suffering with mental illness.      Churches come together through the Conference to learn more about their faith and how their faith propels them into making a difference in their world.   Advocacy happens through the interfaith and ecumenical justice work - and all of this helps all of us!!
